uality of service (QoS) describes the overall performance of the wireless local area network (WLAN). In particular, the service received by the network users. QoS of a (WLAN) is generally quantified by parameters such packet loss, throughput, bite rate, jitters and transmission delay. This work, proposes to evaluate the performance of a wireless network in terms of transport control protocol (TCP) traffic volumes using fractal dimension. Total of 709,158 TCP traffic volumes of a WLAN were captured for some selected days in the month of January, 2018 and, analyzed. Firstly, autocorrelation function was used to test the presence of fractal traffic on the network. Secondly, the intensity of fractal traffic best known as self-similarity was estimated using R/S, Variance, Absolute moment and Periodogram methods in term of Hurst index (H). Thirdly, corresponding fractal dimensions (FD) of H were obtained to ascertain the WLAN QoS in respect to TCP traffic. The results show that Autocorrelation function decays hyperbolically and slowly to zero which confirms the presence of fractal traffic (FT) on WLAN, The average intensity of FT were estimated as H = 0.671, H = 0.653, H = 0.662 and H = 0.840 for the four estimators respectively. Finally, the corresponding FDs of each value of H were also evaluated as 1.329, 1.346, 1.339 and 1.160 respectively. The overall FT intensity is estimated as 0.707 and FD as 1.294, this translates to moderate QoS of a WLAN. In addition, WLAN performance is slightly influenced by the complexity of the traffic.

hen the competition between two investors operating in the same firm is considered, we have utilized a numerical method that is based on a Rangekuta ordinary differential equation of order 45 (ODE 45) using the MATLAB function to calculate the p norms error of the vectorised difference between interacting data. Error calculations satisfy the properties of the p norms of vectors and some statistical quantities such as the range, mean, variance and standard deviation. For the scenario of equal inter-competition coefficients, the range has the value 0.354811056684092, the mean has the value 0.087373617499420, the variance has the value 0.005949124620380 and the standard deviation has the value 0.077130568650696. For the scenario of unequal inter-competition coefficients, the range has the value 0.355916689699261, the mean has the value 0.087466009299379, the variance has the value 0.005986005611015 and the standard deviation has the value 0.077369280796805. For another unequal inter-competition coefficients, the range has the value 0.353900236109985, the mean has the value 0.087298946534305, the variance has the value 0.005918804053119 and the standard deviation has the value0.076933764064412. All these predictions concern when the length of the trading period is 9 months which is equivalent to 180 days. The results that we have obtained are fully presented and discussed in this paper.

his study examined factors affecting cloud computing services adoption among SMEs in Oyo State of Nigeria. A validated conceptual model was developed in order to examine the influence of fifteen contextual factors affecting cloud computing services adoption among SMEs in Oyo State of Nigeria.A descriptive survey design was employed and structured questionnaire previously used by some researchers was used as an instrument to collect data from the respondents. An incidental random sampling technique was used to select one hundred and twenty respondents from the fifteen firms reside in Oyo State. The reliability of the instrument used was tested using cronbach’s alpha analysis. Three hypotheses were formulated for the study and data collected were analysed using frequency count, percentage and multiple regression analysis at 0.05 level of significant. Results of this study showed that the model explains approximately 57% of the variance in intention to use cloud computing technology (adjusted R2=.568). In addition, Technological factors (β=.627, p=.000, p<0.05), Organizational factors (β=.197, p=.003, p<0.05)and Environmental factors (β=.232, p=.000, p<0.05) have positive significant influence on the intention of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Oyo State of Nigeria to adopt cloud computing services and technological factors made the highest significant effect on the intention of SMEs to adopt cloud computing services, it accounted for 63% of the total variance of the SMEs intention to adopt cloud computing services. Moreover, the results of the study indicates that Technological Factors (cost savings, relative advantages, compatibility, and complexity), Organizational Factors (top management support, and prior similar technology experience), and Environmental Factors (market scope, competitive pressure and external computing support) were found to be determinants of the adoption of cloud computing services. Based on these results, the study recommended that government should incorporated cloud computing into national ICT policy framework so as to strategize policy makers a way forward to increase the adoption and use of cloud computing services amongst SMEs in Nigeria and also efforts must be geared towards increasing broadband coverage and access to fast internet speeds at affordable prices for SMEs in Nigeria. Also government should provide an enablement environment that will encourage SMEs in Nigeria to invest and integrate cloud computing services in their business operations and activities.

he main objectives of this relational study were to determine the associations between Polytechnic students’ attitudes towards statistics, statistics anxiety, social support and statistics’ self efficacy. Six research questions and null hypotheses were constructed to direct the study. A set of structured self-administered instruments used in similar studies was adopted as tool for data collection. The tools consist of four scales namely (SATS-36), (STARS-51), (MPSSS-12) and (SELS-14) structured on different rating formats. The instruments composite reliability indices computed through Cronbach alpha methods are .702, .923, .862 and .608 respectively. After analyzing the data collected, Person correlational results indicated attitudes towards statistics was significantly positive while statistics anxiety, social support and self efficacy to learn statistics’ were significantly low below expectation. While attitudes towards statistics negatively correlate with statistics anxiety and self efficacy to learn statistics, non-significantly, it did correlated positively and significantly with social support. When the independent variables were regressed against self efficacy to learn statistics, the results jointly and relatively did not significantly predict self efficacy to learn statistics’ among the students. Based on these findings, recommendations’ were made among which lecturers should incorporate ICT, suitable activities that are enjoyable, relevant and interesting in the teaching of statistics. To conclude, in the present study social support should be provided to students to enhance statistical professional growth and development.

any real life problems that arise in science and engineering disciplines as well as many other areas of studies in which changes occur lead to differential equations. To solve these differential equations, several numerical techniques are in existence but the choice of suitable method in terms of accuracy is a bone of contention. Therefore, this research evaluated Runge-Kutta, Adams-Moulton and Milne of fourth order with three sample problems of second order differential equations (SODE) to compare their performances. Each of them was reduced to systems of two first order equations and the two numerical algorithms were implemented using C programming language. The results obtained were carefully compared in relation to the exact-solutions as ten iterations on each sample problem were carried out to determine their suitability. In equation one, R-K approximated-values ranged between 0.100333 to 1.053619, Adams values ranged between 0.100333 to 1.350405 and Milne values ranged between 0.100333 to 1.383348 while the exact solution ranged between 0.100334 to 1.356402.In equation two, R-K approximated-values ranged between -0.988942 to -0.363974, Adams values ranged between -0.988942 to 1.952490 and Milne values ranged between -0.988942 to 2.313118 while the exact solution ranged between -0.988939 to 1.952492. In the third equation, R-K approximated values ranged between 4.196840 to 5.877598, Adams values ranged between 4.196840 to 5.779769 and Milne values ranged between 4.196840 to 5.799766 while the exact solution ranged between 4.196840 to 5.779763. The research showed that the three numerical algorithms solved the sample problems with negligible errors in terms of accuracy. However, Adams-Moulton approximated values were so close to the exact solutions coupled with shorter time of solving the sample problems; hence it is best of all the three techniques. In solving higher order by reduction system, this study can be employed with a good result guaranteed.

he antibacterial activity of raw aqueous extracts of Allium cepa against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli that are common causes of nosocomial and urinary tract infections was investigated using cup plate dilution method. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of Allium cepa was observed to have the widest zone of inhibition (21mm) against E. coli at 0.8mg/ml-1 concentration, which was followed by the hot extract yielding inhibition of 20mm against S. aureus at the same concentration. The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of Allium cepa extract against the test organisms was obtained at 0.2g/ml-1. This investigation implied that onion has antibacterial activity against the test organisms and thus justifying the use of allium cepa in the folkloric treatment of bacterial infections due to these organisms.

his paper explored the instrumentality of Civic and Citizenship Education for bolstering political socialization and participation among students for sustainable democratic development in northern Nigeria. The study was delimited to Kaduna and Kano state. Descriptive survey method was used and the target population was twenty thousand three hundred and forty-five (22,345) persons. Sample of four hundred (400) respondents was selected through proportionate and stratified sampling techniques. Three (3) Self developed and validated instruments were used for data collection based on 4-points Likert scale. Mean and standard deviation were employed to present the descriptive data, while the null hypotheses were tested using t- test of independent sample at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that, there was no significant difference between the mean opinion scores of teachers and lecturers as well as that of male and female students of tertiary institutions on the instrumentality of Civic and Citizenship Education for bolstering political socialization and participation among students for sustainable democratic development in Northern Nigeria. However, significant difference was found between the mean opinion scores of SSS male and female students. Based on findings, it was recommended among others that, Civic and Citizenship Education instructors should as a matter of fact include themes on advocacy, decision making process and strategy for organising political discourse and media campaign as part of enriching topics in the course of their teaching. This will help equip students with skills in making the right choice, avoid bribery, resist the temptation to sell votes and political violence as well as defend their votes and protest within the ambit of the law when necessary for sustainable democratic development in Northern Nigeria.

nalytical solution of the electrical circuit analysis using integro-differential equation model of the fredholm type is been considered. The Laplace transformation method with its inverse and the theorem of convolution is used to obtain the approximate solution of the integro-differential equation. It is also observed that, the method is a powerful techniques in solving integro-differential equation. However, the current and voltage have effects when the impedance parameters are been increases and decreases. It is also observed that the angular displacement () value affects the wave form (amplitude) of the current thereby causing current stability while the voltage amplitude increasese. The current and voltage also behave in a manner that balances the output of the current to supply a stable current.

RAGMATIC APPROACH IN COMPUTER SCIENCE REAL-TIME PROGRAMMING USING SIMULATION MODEL

Abstract

imulation software helps you predict the behavior of a system. You can use simulation software to evaluate a new design, diagnose problems with an existing design, and test a system under conditions that are hard to reproduce, such as a satellite in outer space. To run a simulation, you need a mathematical model of your system, which can be expressed as a block diagram, schematic, state chart, or even code. The simulation software calculates the behavior of the model as conditions evolve over time or as events occur. Simulation software also includes visualization tools, such as data displays and 3D animation, to help monitor the simulation as it runs. While many rail system simulations aim at planning and design, this study employed Anylogic simulation software to design rail transportation system across Lagos metropolis. Simulation has been widely used by rail transport service providers seeking for supports to improve or possibly optimize their quality of service, as well as the efficiency of their management strategies at various levels. Because of the inherent long-life span of rail infrastructure and services, and many issues and questions that usually come up for improving operations, creation of new timetables, new equipment, and infrastructural changes, rail simulation models should not be utilized only on a single-configuration basis. Often simulation analysts have to change the model or the model parameters by hand each time when there is a change in simulation scenarios. Data plays an important role in simulation. Relevant and correct data is needed to formalize the model and its environment, including parameter fitting, calibration and validating of the model, so we can have meaningful and credible simulation results.

ome automation can be very useful in maximizing the benefits of domestic devices. Automating the operation of devices at home can be beneficial in terms of defining the time the devices should be off or when it should be operational. Some very important benefits of this could be in terms of energy bill reduction and prolonged life span of the devices. Through automation, user can determine the time and period of operation of the device as well as control the devices remotely. To develop this system a wireless network based on Bluetooth technology is developed, which connects several devices to a master node for centralized control. The network master node runs a C# application on a PC and other nodes are implemented using Arduino. A bi-directional communication exists between the master and slave nodes which facilitates re-configuration of operations of nodes and at the same time enables a feedback from the slave to master node. Communication between the nodes is based on the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) which simplifies the Bluetooth communication by emulating RS 232 serial standard.
