Abstract
Insurance is a mechanism created by man to manage the impact of risks in his activities. This is done through a process whereby a party transfers his/her risk to another party with the hope that in the event of a loss, he/she will be compensated. The process of this compensation is called claims payment. Claims payment has been described as the promise purchased by the insured so that when he suffers a loss, he will be indemnified. The study is cross-sectional in nature since findings and conclusions are based on primary data obtained from insurance practitioners, in Lagos State at this point in time. The design enabled researcher to obtain data from respondents at a given time. This research was directed at randomly selecting 250 insurance practitioners in Lagos. The reason for the choice of Lagos is that the State generates more than 65% of insurance revenue and has more concentration of insurance companies and practitioners (Nigeria Insurance Digest, 2020). The results from both the literatures reviewed and analysed that has shown that there is a strong relationship between the payment of claims and the acceptability of insurance by the insuring public. This relationship is affirmed by the result from the analysed data that shows a unit increase in claims payment increases a unit of acceptability of insurance. In this regard the insurance companies in Nigeria should review their claims payment mechanism ensuring that it meets to the needs of their insureds. In this way, they will increase the insurance penetration in the country which is presently very low.

ABSTRACT
This study examined the effect of sustainability reporting on profitability of listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria, with moderating effect of managerial ownership structure. Profitability margins are noted to be dwindled owing to social and environmental responsibility demands in listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria. Related party transactions among directors of companies are known to be promoting information asymmetry. Correlational research design was adopted. Secondary data were sourced from annual reports and sustainability reports of companies for content analysis. The population size was 21 listed consumer goods firms on the Nigerian Exchange. The sample size was 17, using convenience sampling technique. The panel data generated was run on STATA 13 with random effects GLS regression. The descriptive statistics adopted were mean and standard deviation. The inferential statistics employed include multiple regression analysis, t-test and chi-square. The findings reveal that sustainability reporting, with moderating effect of managerial ownership structure, has positive and insignificant effect on profitability of listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria. Specifically, economic disclosure and environmental disclosure have insignificant effect while social disclosure has insignificant negative effect on profitability with moderating effect of managerial ownership structure. The major recommendation holds that regulatory authorities in Nigeria should not make sustainability disclosure mandatory on companies in the consumer goods sector of the economy.

ABSTRACT
This paper examined the roles and the effectiveness of Audit Committees as provided by corporate governance codes, in relation to corporate sustainability, whether corporate sustainability is as a result of the effectiveness of the ACs.The AC is perceived to be a means of strengthening the external financial reporting process, and also facilitating the detection and prevention of corporate misconduct and scandals. This paper study the case of SATYAM computers and the role played by it AC in the governance process. The study used Secondary sourced data to investigate the roles of AC in the cases study company, a qualitative case study method was employed to investigate the corporate governance and the AC activities. One of the main findings of the study is that many corporate failures are associated with the ineffectiveness of ACs, and that ACs could have prevented the occurrence of several corporate failures if they were efficient. However, the ACs cannot be 100% blamed for the failures, This is because their effectiveness is a subject to so many factors (independence, industry expertise, information flow, inbuilt willingness to serve, and organizational factors), which are always lacking, and lack of any one factor always renders the AC ineffective. It was also found that ACs can ensure corporate sustainability and tackle the occurrence of corporate failure when the right people are nominated into the committee, and they are independent of any managerial influence.

Abstract
Many organizations have started using outsourcing strategy over the years but still many organizations didn’t realize the full benefit of it. Some have experienced low productivity, their they failed to attain expected cost saving and their profitability have not been balanced or stable. The specific objective of the study is to determine the effect of recruitment outsourcing on employees performance. Employers have adopted human resources policies and practices with an aim of improving their employees’ performance. However, despite such policies and practices, it remains unclear why employee performance has been perennially low. The study will employ a descriptive research design. Simple random sampling technique will be use to select the sample. Data will be collected using questionnaires which will be administered to the respondents in Nigeria by the researcher. Data analysis will be done with the aid of SPSS version 22 statistical software. Descriptive and inferential statistics was use in analyzing the data. Hypotheses will be tested using the p-value approach at 95% level of confidence. The findings shown that recruitment outsourcing activities contributed to the organizational performance as revealed by respondents regarding their views on effect of outsourcing on employees performance. Moreover, the findings show that there is a positive and significant relationship between recruitment outsourcing activities and employees performance while it shows a positive and insignificant relationship between outsourcing activities with productivity and employees performance respectively. This study therefore recommended that organizations in Nigeria should continue to improve how they manage their outsourcing activities by emphasizing on non-core activities instead of outsourcing their core activities. Recruitment outsourcing will help the organizations to produce better quality which will lead to the increase of product demand and profitability by reducing competitiveness. Furthermore, organizations should never allow external service provider to perform all the responsibility because this can lead to the loss of control over certain production or operation activities. Therefore, service provider should only manage particular risks that can’t affect or damage the entire organization performance.

Abstract
In the current technology driven era, Small and Medium Scale enterprises (SMEs) have emerged as very essential economic catalyst in the development and industrialization bid of most developed and developing economies such as Nigeria. Given the economic realities in Nigeria, the country must constantly create new jobs and diversify the industrial and commercial sector to take advantage of human and natural resources through entrepreneurship. The present research aims to identify the role of dynamic capability on the relationship between social capital and SMEs performance in Nigeria. Questionnaire was distributed to the owners/managers of registered SMEs in Kaduna metropolis. Structural Equation Model was used to analysed the data using Partial Least Square Method (PLS 2). The result based on the findings shows that structural social capital has positive and significant effect on SMEs performance, just as relational social capital and cognitive social capital, Similarly, dynamic capability significantly have effect on the performance of SMEs. On the mediation relationships, dynamic capability only mediates the relationship between cognitive social capital and performance of SMEs. The study therefore concludes that dynamic capability do not mediate other relationships in the study. Finally, the study recommends that Government of Nigeria and other stakeholders need to focus their attention on issues that are related to social network of SMEs such as, integrating, interpersonal trust, knowledge sharing within and across the businesses. On the other hand, SMEs owner/managers should attach more importance to the implementation of social capital most especially cognitive social capital in order to increase their performance.

Abstract
Experience has shown that industry is a major catalyst that drives the engine of economic growth and development. It is in recognition of this that nations world over have pursued and continue to pursue policies and programmes that encourage the rapid industrialization of their respective economies. Nigeria, for instance has pursued the goal of industrialization since the 1960s and even so, more rigorously since the 1970s through the indigenization policy; among others. No doubt, the process of resource utilization which is the orb of industrialization involves interaction with and transformation of some aspects of both the natural and man-made environment. This process is usually accompanied with some pathological and physiological impacts that are potentially hazardous to human health and wellbeing. Sadly, however, the various attempts at and phases of industrialization in Nigeria have paid only very little attention to issues bothering on environmental health. Such lopsided pattern of industrialization which tends to target only economic and social dimensions at the expense of the environment from which resources are derived have posed considerably serious challenges to human health. Given the critical role that the health status of individuals play in their contribution to national productivity, it becomes imperative that any meaningful attempt at industrialization will only be sustainable by a trade-off between the pursuit of the benefits of a higher level of industrialization and environmental degradation. Such trade-offs will necessarily require that while pursuing efficient production and marketing goals, industries should as well give priority considerations to environmental and human health protection. The question, therefore is; “to what extent can the goal of industrialization be achieved without constituting a menace to environmental health?” The objective of this study is to examine the extent to which industrial activities impact on the environment and human health. Data collected from various secondary sources for the period 1981 to 2015 would be analysed with the Co-integration and Error-Correction Mechanism. It is expected that the findings will reveal the link between industrialisation and the state of well-being of the environment thus underscoring the imperative of environmental preservation in the quest for industrial development and economic growth and development.

Abstract
Entrepreneurial Orientation has significant influence on firm performance more so for small and medium firms operating under globalization and internationalization and regional integration regimes. Globalization results in expanded markets, characterized by increased number of competition, and shrinking market size. This global competition, increasing interdependence, rapid technology development, unstable environments, and many other factors exerts greater pressure on small and medium firms accustomed to operating under a domestic market set-up. To overcome the challenges associated with globalization, eminent scholars in other parts of the world have recommended that firms adopt entrepreneurial orientation as a solution to the challenges brought about by globalization. It is on this basis that this study sought to determine the influence of entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of small and medium enterprises in the information and communications technology sector. The study used descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, median and proportions using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24 and Microsoft Excel. Regression analysis and correlation analysis were used to determine the direction and strength of the relationship between the independent and the dependent variables.. The questionnaires were administered among the seventy (234) management staff members of the one hundred and seventy two (162) selected SMEs in Nigeria through purposive sampling method, and this was done personally by the researcher. Descriptive and inferential statistics was use to analyze and interpret the data use in this research. The study reveals that entrepreneurial orientation is a major challenges that help SMEs to grow and achieve its stated objectives in global competitive environment The study sought to answer the question of what shaped entrepreneurial orientation in SMEs in a developing country context and to answer the question of what contributed to performance for SME. The findings of the study revealed that employee relations showed a positive but insignificant effect on the performance of manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The study recommends the enhancement of employee relations through health and safety, training and development, and staff welfare to maximize employee productivity. It recommends the promotion of customer satisfaction through product information, quality assurance and customer feedback to enhance customer loyalty and firm’s reputation to survive in the highly competitive market place.

Abstract
Controversies abound over the relative contributions of monetary and fiscal policies on different economies of the world. Previous studies in Nigeria focused on either the effect of monetary or fiscal policy on economic growth without taking cognizance of their joint effects on agricultural output. This study is carried out in order to identify the policy-mix that drives the agricultural output growth in Nigeria. The study utilizes the Quantity Theory of Money by the Monetarists vis-à-vis Keynesian Theory with time series data spanning from 1981 to 2020. The study uses the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL) techniques to achieve its objectives. The results reveal that money supply contributes 1.14% to the forecast error variance in agricultural output in the second year and it attains its peak of 3.1% in the third year before decreasing to 2.16% and 1.39% in the seventh and tenth years respectively. Government expenditure accounts for 0.003% of the forecast error variance in agricultural output in the second year and it reaches its peak of 5.63% in the third year before decreasing steadily as it accounts for 2.87% and 1.23% in the sixth and the tenth years respectively. Also, the results indicate that the interactive effect of government expenditure and money supply on agricultural output is positive and significant; implying that fiscal and monetary policies act as complement for agricultural output performance in Nigeria. Thus, the two-policy measures should be coordinated to maximize agricultural output.

Abstract
This paper is to study the crisis management as a tool for sustainable organiational growth a study of delta state polytechnic, otefe oghara. The aim of this paper is to assess whether the Crisis management has relationship with organizational sustainable growth. Crisis management is the process by which an organization deals with a major event that threatens to harm the organization, its stakeholders, or the general public. Crisis management involves dealing with threats before, during, and after they have occurred. Social media has accelerated the speed that information about a crisis can spread. The viral effect of social networks such as Twitter means that stakeholders can break news faster than traditional media – making managing a crisis harder. This can be mitigated by having the right training and policy in place as well as the right social media monitoring tools to detect signs of a crisis breaking. Social media also gives crisis management teams’ access to real-time information about how a crisis is impacting stakeholder sentiment and the issues that are of most concern to them.
TRADE SHOWS: EFFECTIVE INDUSTRIAL MARKETING STRATEGIC TOOL FOR EXPANDING A COMPANY’S MARKET SHARE
ASORE, E. PATRICIA (Mrs)
Department of Marketing, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi
Abstract
The main objective of the paper is to examine the effect of trade show marketing as a strategic and effective tool for expanding a company’s market Share. The supporting objectives are: To find out the trade show marketing strategies that are effective in expanding a company’s market share, to ascertain trade show costs/expenses on the part of participating companies, to determine the risks associated with taking a stand at trade shows, to outline the trade show benefits to participating organization, and to create an understanding of the flow of revenue in exhibit/trade show marketing. With regards to the methodology, the paper is written from a descriptive perspective. Trade show marketing strategies were examined in order of what to do, before, during, and after the trade show. Trade show expenses (costs) on the part of participating companies were outlined, and they were found to be quite enormous, running to hundreds of thousands of Naira/Dollars. Risks associated with exhibiting at a trade shows were briefly examined and were found to cover unknown effectiveness- the marketing return per Naira spent, difficulty of measuring efficiency-the effectiveness of these events compared with other marketing communication tools such as advertising; high and rising cost of participation, heavy presence of competition- making it hard for smaller firms to get noticed, potential low turnouts that can affect the return on investment (ROI), not having the right stand personnel and the fact that leads might not always be qualified. Trade show benefits/ advantages (for participating organizations) were also outlined. Understanding the flow of revenue in exhibit Marketing was briefly treated which revealed that there is a lot of money circulating in the trade-show business, and most of it comes out of the pockets of exhibitors and attendees. The revenue flows in a way that benefits not just one or two entities, but a web of stakeholders who can all leverage its features for greater business and economic success. In conclusion, it is noted that despite the prevalent confusion about the value of trade shows, they are in fact proving to be an important part of marketing. It is recommended that proper planning, execution, and follow-up are the keys to trade show success. In view of the rising costs of trade shows (and promotion in general), participation is not something that can be taken lightly or approached in a haphazard manner. Extensive evaluation of the shows themselves, detailed planning, establishment of realistic objectives and expectations, professional execution of the plan, and thorough and timely follow – up can provide relative assurance of successful trade show participation.

Department of Business Administration and Management Studies, Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Benue State
ABSTRACT
Globally, the business environment has evolved and remains ever-changing. However, the attainment of employees’ high level of productivity remains the ultimate goal of private and public enterprises. Nonetheless, the challenge most organizations encounter is how to motivate employees through adequate supervision and reward. Notably, employee productivity in Nigeria has remained a question yet unanswered in the minds of public actors with decreasing levels due to demotivational factors. This study investigated the effect of work environment supervision and job satisfaction on employee productivity in FCT area councils. A descriptive survey approach was adopted for the study where all employees of the six area councils were used. Out of the population, a sample of 384 employees was used with the information collected using a structured questionnaire. The study was predicated on Social Exchange Theory to expose the relationship between the study variables. Correlation and Multiple regression techniques were used. The findings of the study showed a positive and significant effect of both work environment supervision and job satisfaction on employee productivity of area councils in the FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. Therefore, the study recommends that the government of the local councils should endeavour to come up with a leadership model that encompasses ideals, inspiration, stimulation and individualized consideration to diffuse the possibility of dissatisfaction with the management and leadership style. This will ensure there are proper ways and means to communicate county strategies and goals to the employees.
