Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between level of budgetary control and performance of manufacturing companies. Budget is a tool for controlling business resources, a tool for measuring performance and a reliable instrument for motivating workers for higher performance. Part of business plan is to prepare and adopt budget for each business period. In this paper, the researcher takes a look at the extent to which manufacturing companies prepare and use budget with a view to assessing the impact of budgetary control on profitability. Primary data was collected with the use of questionnaire while secondary data were collected from company’s records, textbooks and journals. Hypothesis was tested by chi-square method. The analysis revealed that only high-rank workers of Yale Foods Ltd are participating well in budget preparation and that the frequency at which actual results are compared with budgeted result aids performance. The obstacle to effective performance is the way budget items are usually arranged and written that is making it difficult for some of the workers to interpret. The way out is for business organizations to organise seminar for their staff at the beginning of every business year purposely to educate them on budget.

Abstract
This study discussed the effective product testing techniques as a strategic tool for unveiling sub-saharan marketing potentials. This was carried out by determining explicitly the most effective research procedure which will reduce cost, losses and risks involved in strategies and at the same time permit decisions to be made while investments are minimal. The objective of this study is to concurrently evaluate the various product testing methods with a view to comparing them on validity and sensitivity and subsequently determine the most effective method of product testing. The questionnaire questions on validity and sensitivity analyses evaluated the test products on a 5-point scale and the test statistic (t-test) was used to finding the differences between the mean of two groups of data. The test result showed that Round Robbin methods brings about the most significant differences among the test products and the stratification sampling design was considered necessary to ensure matching between products, sample representativeness and increased desired statistical precision. The study was concluded with a confirmation that the Round Robbin technique is the most sensitive product testing method and subsequently recommended that the method be subjected to further studies with more product performance variables.

Power have been as old as the human society including leadership. No matter how and when the society embodied by human beings among others is characterized by man and power cannot be separated from power. There is no human society devoid of power. There is no society where power does not come into play which is to simply say that there is no egalitarian society. The idea of visualizing a human society where all is equal is ideal but not attainable but imaginable. The social and economic impact of power in human society with Nigeria a case study is not a ruse, it is factual. These researchers tries to find out the level of impact or influence that power has as a factor of development in Africa. To the best of our knowledge, it will be imperative to establish that development, developmental processes and all that pertains to development revolves around power. These scholars adopted different research methods or techniques in the collection of its data. The work concluded by suggesting ways that power can be enhanced in Nigeria.
AFRICAN ESSENCE: TOWARDS REDEFINING AFRICAN POTENTIALS IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM: A PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE.
Victor Ogheneochuko Jeko,
Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State
ABSTRACT
It is argued that the African identity, essence or difference has left much to be desired. The African essence or difference has been hijacked by some marauders who have constantly plaguing the African continent. Africans in this contemporary time are in perpetual poverty and there is this loss of African essence. What Africa as a continent is experiencing today is clear cut post-colonial crises, political imbroglio and economic morass. As Oyekan Owomoyela (1996:xi) rightly observed the fight for African liberation, emancipation, and historization must continue as long as the belief in the essential pathology of Africanity can boast a proponent the nudging and prompting of African essence, culture, authenticity must be revived by our intellectual response in order to unveil African potentials in this new millennium. The dangers of ignoring threats to the survival of African essence, identity, culture, language, difference, and historicity are clear. We must begin to brainstorm and define this African essence, identity, culture and language; we must begin to see the African community from a more conscious unity of the principle of complementarity. Difference is part and parcel of humanity. We must not take difference to the extreme. We must begin to strike a balance when it comes to the issue of African difference, essence, culture, historicity, language, liberation and emancipation.
